Piyush Chawla

Updated on Feb 22, 2011 12:58 pm IST

After Sachin Tendulkar, the second youngest test debutant for team India is Piyush Chawla. He is often regarded as the successor of legendary Indian leg spin wizard Anil Kumble. Born on 24 December 1988 in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, Chawla made his ODI debut against Bangladesh on 12 May 2007 and took 3 wickets. Piyush has shown the world that sometimes it is believable that “big things come in small packages”. He made his entry in the world of cricket by playing for India U-19 team against the England U-19 team in 2004-05 and claimed 13 wickets in two Under-19 tests. He showed his bowling prowess and his all rounder skills by taking 8 wickets and scoring 102 from only 86 balls in his first County Championship match against Worcestershire. For Piyush, this is the first World Cup to show his performance.
