Haryana dedicated a planetarium to Indo-American astronaut Kalpana Chawla on Tuesday, July 24, 2007. State chief Bhupinder Singh Hooda inaugurated the planetarium in the presence of students from Tagore Bal Niketan in Karnal, the alma mater of Chawla, who died in the ill-fated Columbia space shuttle tragedy in 2003. The planetarium was built at a cost of almost 65 million rupees on a five-acre plot and houses 120 seats.
