PM address nation, calls for strong lokpal bill

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday said the country needs an effective lokpal bill to uproot corruption in high places and appeals to citizens, not to use the means of hunger strikes and fast unto deaths for their demonstrations against corruption. Addressing the nation, after hoisting the flag at the Red Fort, in the national capital on 65th Independence Day, Singh said that corruption at the federal and the state level pose the biggest obstacle as the country strives hard towards emerging as the world economic power.
