PM initiates 'Save the Girl Child' campaign

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh inaugurated a national meet on 'Save the Girl Child' in New Delhi on April 28. Inaugurating the conference, Manmohan Singh said that neglect of the girl child in India still continues. Referring to the declining sex ratios Singh said that multiple deprivations, all with roots in the oppressive structure of patriarchy have resulted in a bias against girls.
