Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh on Monday said that the constant change in climatic conditions made the country prone to violent natural disasters and called for special attention on training and tackling any catastrophes. Singh was addressing the first session of the National Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in New Delhi. Citing the example of the United Nations Millennium Development goals, Singh said that linking disaster management programmes to development projects was an option the government had been looking into for the past two five-year plans.
