Politicos question secular credentials of Modi

Political leaders have downplayed elevation of Gujarat Chief Minister, Narendra Modi to head the polls panel Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during 2014 general elections. Sharing their views with the media they termed it as BJP's ploy to integrate religion with politics. Meanwhile, Congress spokesperson Shakeel Ahmed said that Modi was just following in the footsteps of senior BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani whom he termed as the biggest patron of communal forces at one time.
