Pranab blames rupee depreciation on Eurozone crisis
Updated on May 20, 2012 07:20 pm IST
Union finance minister Pranab Mukherjee today blamed the current depreciation in the value of Rupee to the financial turmoil in the Eurozone. Mukherjee said that the sudden fall in the rupee is a matter of great concern and the Centre is trying to resolve the situation. Few days ago, the rupee recorded an all-time low on a wave of global risk aversion amid worries over domestic fiscal and economic challenges. The rupee slumped to 54.52 against the dollar, surpassing its previous low of 54.30 hit in mid-December.
