Pranab rejects JPC probe, Mamata comes in defence of PM

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday turned down the opposition's demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the telecom scam. Mukherjee said let the parliament's Public Accounts Committee first look into the matter. Meanwhile, Mamta Banerjee also rose in defence of a cornered Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The ruling Congress party has been in the eye of the storm recently after the Commonwealth Games, telecom and the defence housing society scams.
