Railways announces freight concessions

Indian Railways on Thursday announced concessions in freight and loading of coal, steel, cement, fertilizers and food grains. Railway Minister Lalu Prasad said he hoped the incentives would help achieve increase in volume of transactions. Announcing indefinite postponement of a 10 per cent surcharge on cement freight, Lalu said the waivers were directed also towards easing the flow of heavy industry raw materials to bolster the growth of infrastructure.
