Rajasthan on the boil, PM intervenes

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday appealed for peace and calm in Rajasthan and Haryana which are currently witnessing violence. He also expressed grief over the loss of life during the agitation that took a new turn with the involvement of Meenas, who are opposing the Gujjars' demand for Scheduled Tribe status. Earlier during the day, veteran BJP leader LK Advani and other senior party leaders met the PM and Home Minister Shivraj Patil.
