Ramesh announces exclusive body to address anti-nuke concerns

Updated on May 12, 2011 08:04 pm IST

Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh on Wednesday said that the Government of India has planned to form an exclusive body to address public concerns over the use of nuclear energy. While addressing a meet at the Tata Institute for Social Sciences in Mumbai, he also mentioned that the government had taken a series of decisions over the past three weeks regarding restoration of public confidence in nuclear plants to generate power. He also said that people opposed to use of nuclear energy on an ideological basis should not be worried about India suffering a nuclear catastrophe as the one that took place at Fukushima in Japan a month ago.
