A crack outfit of Rapid Action Force (RAF) has been deployed in the Kashmir valley in a bid to control anti-India demonstrations which have left more than 40 persons dead over the past one week in and around Srinagar. This RAF squad that was despatched earlier from New Delhi reached Srinagar on Friday. The RAF squad is specially trained to control violent crowds. Paramilitary forces have been asked to exercise maximum restraint to cut down on civilian casualties, which authorities say are used as fuel by the separatists to foment emotions in the region.
