Updated on May 18, 2012 02:45 pm IST
The Rajya Sabha passed the much delayed Copyright Amendment Bill of 2010, which aims to distribute royalties between artistes, composers and lyricists instead of the current practice of producers pocketing all profits. The incident happened on Thursday night at the Maurya Sheraton Hotel. The bill, moved by Union HRD minister Kapil Sibal who termed it as a historical piece of legislation, has come one step closer to implementation and now has to be passed by the Lok Sabha. Sibal further said that the issue of piracy had also been dealt with in the bill.
