Rupee continues its free fall

Updated on May 23, 2012 03:01 pm IST

Continuing its free fall, the rupee hit a new record low of 56 against the US dollar. The rupee has continued the slide for the sixth day in a row despite steps taken by the RBI. Meanwhile, taking a dig at Congress over the Rupee slide, BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad, insisted that the imports of goods would become costlier as rupee depriciates. Addressing mediapersons, Ravi Shankar added that the government should take steps to ensure that the value of rupee does not fall further.
