Salt producers fear slump due to recession

The clouds of the global recession after hitting various sectors of economy has now surrounded the hub of the Indian salt industry in Kharaghoda. Situated on the edge of Little Rann of Kutch, this village of the Gujarat is known for its salt industries. There are at least 40,000 salt pan workers or 'agyaris', employed in almost 80 to 90 salt industries of the village.
