Security beefed up at Haridwar at Mahakumbh Mela

Police has beefed-up security in Haridwar in Uttarakhand for the Mahakumbh Mela, the biggest religious gathering of Hindus in the world, which begins today. Paramilitary forces have been deployed along with the state police at 'Har Ki Pauri', considered as the central to the Kumbh Mela. The mela will be managed by Uttarakhand State Government, which would establish a temporary city called "Mela Kshetra" measuring 8X48 kilometers.
