Police have stepped up security in tourist hotspot Goa, following the recent terror attack in Pune that claimed at least 10 lives. Extra security measures are being taken at all major beaches, market places as well as restaurants. Police officials are also sensitising shopkeepers, taxi drivers and vehicular movement. Significantly, Goa is one of the leading international tourist destinations with a high presence of foreigners, Indian VIPS and VVIPs, business and film celebrities.
