Updated on Jul 28, 2012 03:34 pm IST
Distancing itself from Shahid Siddiqui after he interviewed Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi for an Urdu daily, the Samajwadi Party today said that he is not a member of the party. SP General Secretary Ram Gopal Yadav denied that the party was sacking him and appealed to the media to not to portray Siddiqui as part of his party. He also said that Siddiqui may want to join Modi that's why he took his interview. In the interview, the Gujarat Chief Minister told Siddiqui that he should be hanged if he is found guilty of orchestrating the 2002 Gujarat riots. Remarks perceived to be tailor made for the Muslim readership.
