Shiv Sena shutdown turns violent
Updated on Dec 28, 2010 08:32 pm IST
Shiv Sena today vandalised 10 city buses in Pune to protest the removal of statue of Dadaji Kondadev, considered to be the mentor of Chhatrapati Shivaji. The agitators also tried to disrupt rail traffic at Lonavala. Police also detained some Sena workers as a preventive measure. Shiv Sena had given a call for the bandh after the NCP-Congress ruled Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) removed the Kondadev's statue from historic Lal Mahal where Chhatrapati Shivaji and his mother Jijamata's statue are also there.
