Sri Lanka pledges safe passage to trapped Tamil civilians

Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa has pledged safe passage to thousands of Tamilian civilians trapped on account of the offensive by the security forces to weed out LTTE and has also confirmed to India that he has urged the LTTE to let the civilians within the next two days. This was disclosed by Indian Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon at New Delhi, on Thursday.
