Srinagar, the city of lakes, nestles in the heart of Kashmir valley and spreads on the both sides of the river Jhelum. One of northern India's famous tourist destinations, which was also known as the city of seven bridges constructed on the Jhelum river, has been left with only two historic bridges. The ancient bridges that still exist are similar in construction with pillars made from trunks of Deodar trees.
