Storm hits J&K

Hundreds of temporary shelters and tents were torn down as roaring winds and a storm hit the Kashmir Valley on Friday. The strong winds uprooted trees and electric poles at various places, plunging the city into darkness. The Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road was closed to traffic as it was blocked at several points by fallen trees. Around 250 tourists, enjoying boat rides in the world famous Dal lake, were stranded and state police and fire services personnel had to rescue them.
