Tamil Nadu Express fire: Mukul Roy orders probe

Union railway minister Mukul Roy on Monday said that he has ordered a probe into the Tamil Nadu Express fire mishap and has announced a compensation of Rs. 5 lakh each for the families of the dead in the incident that left over 30 people dead. He also announced a payment of Rs one lakh each for those who were seriously injured in the fire and Rs. 25,000 for those who suffered minor injuries. Meanwhile rescue and salvage operations are in full swing to pull out the bodies of commuters that were burnt. The cause of fire is yet to be ascertained. But according to local media reports, the fire was caused due to an electrical short circuit and most of the passengers were asleep when the incident happened.
