Thomas resigns as SC quashes his appointment

As Supreme Court today stuck down appointment of Chief Vigilance Commissioner PJ Thomas, he tendered his resignation. Facing one of the worst crises of his term, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh called a meeting of his cabinet to discuss the scenario. Upbeat about the Apex Court's decision, Opposition sought a clarification directly from the Prime Minister and also Home Minister P. Chidambaram in this regard.
