Supporters of Trinamool Congress, the main opposition in West Bengal, celebrated on Wednesday as the party led by Mamata Banerjee won the 141-ward city municipal corporation elections, inflicting a crushing blow to the ruling Left Front in the civic elections. The Kolkata Municipal elections are viewed as the last trial of strength of the ruling Left Front and other contesting parties ahead of the polls to the state legislature in 2011.
