Updated on May 17, 2009 09:09 pm IST
Farmers in the border area of Kathua in J&K are reaping it rich ever since they took up trench cultivation. Earlier, the security forces had mined this region that adjoins the India-Pakistan border. Apart from being infertile, the land was also uneven with numerous ditches and bushes. However, after the removal of land mines from the Hiranagar and Samba sectors of the border, the farmers have resumed cultivation here.
