Truckers call off strike

At least 450,000 trucks are expected to hit western Indian roads on Monday after a powerful union called off the nationwide strike on Sunday.The nationwide strike by tens of thousands of truckers that entered its seventh day on Sunday had pushed up prices of some commodities and threatened to choke supplies of fruits and vegetables. The deadlock in the most industrialized Maharashtra ended after a meeting between government representatives and transport union officials.
