With the Election Commission yesterday announcing the dates for assembly polls in the five states of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur, to be held early next year, the political battle has intensified with major parties indulging in a war of words. The BJP trained guns at the party's political rivals BSP and the SP, and exuded confidence of winning the polls in Uttar Pradesh. Meanwhile, central minister and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) chief Ajit Singh too slammed the Mayawati government saying that people in UP are frustrated with the leader.
