Updated on Aug 14, 2015 02:05 pm IST
Security has been tightened across cities ahead of the nation's 69th Independence Day. Reports citing intelligence inputs say Pakistan-based militants could target the Independence Day functions. Vigil has been stepped up in government areas and key installations in New Delhi. The national capital has turned into a virtual fortress with over 6,000 security personnel on duty to pre-empt any terrorist strike in the city. The entire route from India Gate to Red Fort, from where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unfurl the tricolor, has been sanitized. Security forces with snipers have been posted at high-rise buildings to keep a hawk eye on any suspicious activity with CCTV cameras being installed in key areas.
