Will not tolerate violent protests: Nitish Kumar

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has condemned the recent attack on his cavalcade on his way to a public meeting, and said that dissent in a democracy must be expressed through non-violent means. Bihar deputy CM, Sushil Modi also echoed similar sentiments. Meanwhile, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) took exception to the incident where Kumar's aide and a member of his Janata Dal-United (JD-U) party, Ranveer Yadav, had allegedly seized a police officer's gun and fired in the air to disperse protesters. Protesters in Khagaria district attacked the Chief Minister's cavalcade on September 27th. The Protesters first showed him black flags, shouted slogans and later pelted stones at the vehicles of his motorcade.
