India’s Big Action Against Maldives? Modi Govt Reduces Aid To Male Amid Diplomatic Row

The Indian government has announced a reduced aid for Maldives amid fraught relations. The Modi government has set aside 600 crore in foreign aid to Maldives, higher than the previous year’s allocation but 22 percent less than what New Delhi actually ended up spending on Male. The reduction in aid comes following derogatory remarks made by now suspended ministers in the Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu government.
