Strengthening its diplomatic presence, India has officially opened two new Consulates General in Russia — located in Yekaterinburg and Kazan. Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar highlighted that the new consulates will expand strategic, economic, technological, academic, and cultural cooperation between the two nations. Yekaterinburg, known as Russia’s “third capital,” is a key industrial hub and gateway to Siberia, home to major defence, engineering, and nuclear sectors. Kazan adds crucial cultural and business connectivity. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko and India’s Ambassador to Russia Vinay Kumar.
