‘Adhered to party’s advice’: Priyanka on not contesting from Varanasi

Priyanka Gandhi cleared the air on why she didn't contest against PM Narendra Modi in Varanasi. She said that she was advised against the move by senior party leaders. “I took advice of all senior leaders of our party and colleagues in UP. They firmly felt that I have responsibility here of looking after 41 seats. I felt that they (candidates) would be disappointed if I focused on only one place,” Priyanka Gandhi was quoted as saying by news agency ANI. Congress fielded their 2014 candidate Ajay Rai to take on PM Modi once again.
