‘Alliance wasn’t serving national cause’: Ram Madhav on failed BJP-PDP tie-up

Considered one of the architects of the short-lived alliance between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the People's Democratic Party in Jammu and Kashmir, National General Secretary of the BJP, Ram Madhav, claimed that continuing in the alliance was impossible when it stopped serving the national cause. Defending the decision to form the coalition in the first place, Madhav told Hindustan Times' National Political Editor that the state had thrown up a 'peculiar' mandate in the assembly elections, and that there was no alternative to forming the alliance.
