Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro slammed what he called the United States’ “illegal and brutal interventionism” during a major march in Caracas marking the 166th anniversary of the Battle of Santa Ines. Addressing thousands of supporters, Maduro rejected regime-change attempts, foreign invasions, and rising US pressure after Washington announced the seizure of a tanker off Venezuela’s coast. He vowed to defend the homeland “like warriors” and praised recent anti-war demonstrations in the US showing solidarity with Venezuela. The commemoration also coincided with opposition leader Maria Corina Machado receiving the Nobel Peace Prize amid growing political tensions.
