Maduro's fate hangs in balance as US charges him & his wife with Narco-terrorism | Life in prison?

Hours after his dramatic capture, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores were indicted in the United States on sweeping narco-terrorism and cocaine trafficking charges. According to U.S. prosecutors in the Southern District of New York, the charges include narco-terrorism conspiracy, cocaine importation conspiracy, and possession of machine guns and destructive devices. U.S. Attorney-General Pam Bondi warned that Maduro will soon face the “full wrath” of American justice, thanking President Donald Trump and U.S. forces for what she called a highly successful operation. With prosecutors who routinely pursue federal capital cases leading the indictment, questions are now mounting over whether Maduro could face life imprisonment—or even capital punishment—under U.S. law.
