India’s aviation sector is set for a major overhaul as the Ministry of Civil Aviation introduces new passenger-friendly rules. Flyers could soon get relief with 60% of airline seats mandated to be free, compared to the current 20%. The new guidelines also ensure passengers under the same PNR are seated together and strengthen passenger rights during delays or cancellations. With India now the third-largest domestic aviation market, these changes aim to make flying more affordable, transparent, and accessible.
