NATO weapon compromised? Pro-Russia ally puts own missile on Typhoon jet; US blacklisting backfires?

The United Kingdom has approved Turkey’s request to integrate domestically produced weapons onto its newly acquired Eurofighter Typhoon jets, marking a significant shift in NATO defence dynamics. Analysts say the move enhances Turkey’s operational independence, allowing Ankara to deploy indigenous missiles such as Bozdogan and Gokdogan for deep-strike and maritime missions across the Eastern Mediterranean and Black Sea. The clearance follows a $10 billion UK–Turkey defence deal signed in October and comes after the United States removed Turkey from the F-35 programme over its purchase of Russia’s S-400 system. Experts view the decision as unprecedented and geopolitically significant.
