Afghans celebrate Independence Day in India amid Taliban takeover back home

• Afghans living in India celebrated independence day, while in Afghanistan flag-waving got bullets in return. Afghan refugees got together at a park & waved Afghanistan’s national flag. The flag-waving was also in support of their countrymen back home. Flag-waving protesters took to streets in various cities of Afghanistan on I-day. Taliban reportedly opened fire on protesters in Asadabad & Jalalabad cities. Protesters were reportedly waving the national flag & tearing down the Taliban's flag. However, it is not clear whether the casualties resulted from Taliban’s firing or stampede. Flag-waving protesters took to streets in various cities of Afghanistan on i-day. Afghanistan was freed from British rule on august 19, 1919.
