'Army doing great job but...': Ghulam Nabi's advice to security forces in J&K

Published on Dec 04, 2021 11:44 am IST

  • Congress’ Ghulam Nabi Azad advised security forces to avoid collateral damage during anti-terror ops in J&K. The senior Congress leader & former CM was speaking to reporters after a rally in Rajouri. “During counter insurgency operations, if a militant hides inside a house security forces blow it away. Then people think that the security forces have committed excesses. During my tenure as CM, I had asked forces to cordon off the house & wait for two days. He (militant) will eventually come out. Once he is out, kill him. No doctor has said that you have to kill him the same day. So, my point is, security forces should avoid collateral damage,” he said. Earlier at the rally, Azad urged people to raze the walls of hatred before next assembly polls. The Congress veteran appealed to the people of Jammu & Kashmir to elect secular leaders. The political parties in Jammu & Kashmir anticipate assembly polls in June next year. Elections are likely to be conducted following completion of the delimitation exercise in March.
