- Even as India battles the Covid-19 pandemic, bird flu, or Avian Influenza, has hit the country. Confirmed cases have been reported from at least 10 states, with authorities concerned that the disease may spread to more areas. The outbreak has caused concern among people regarding consumption of poultry and poultry products. While the government has said that eating chicken, eggs etc is safe if cooked properly, some local administrations are reportedly imposing bans. The authorities have also said that while no human infection has been reported in the country so far, people must take precautions.
