China & Russia’s message for QUAD: TU-95MS & Xian H-6 bombers fly over Japan Sea

• In a massive show of strength amid the QUAD summit at Tokyo, Russia and China held their first joint military exercise since Moscow invaded Ukraine on Feb. 24. The air patrol also comes at the tail end of the U.S. President Joe Biden's trip to the region. Russia defence ministry in its statement claimed that the exercise lasted 13 hours over the Japanese and East China seas and involved Russian Tu-95 and Chinese Xian H-6 strategic bombers. “In the course of their missions, the aircraft of both countries acted strictly in accordance with the provisions of international law. There have been no violations of foreign airspace,” read the statement. Japan’s Defence Minister Nobuo Kishi characterised the incident as a likely provocation by both Beijing and Moscow on a day when U.S. President Joe Biden, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Australia's newly elected leader, Anthony Albanese, were meeting in Tokyo.
