- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that his government is correcting the ‘historical mistake’ of neglecting Assam. He added that the state's development is a priority of the NDA govt. PM Modi was virtually speaking at the launch of Mahabahu Brahmaputra project. The ₹3,231-crore project includes construction of inland water terminal and tourist jetties. “Mahabahu Brahmaputra project will strengthen water connectivity across the region. The construction of an inland water terminal and tourist jetties has begun,” PM Modi said. He added, “Prior to Independence, Assam enjoyed a high per-capita income. But since independence, the state's development was neglected. Correcting the historical mistake of neglecting Assam had begun with Vajpayeeji. Now it has gained strength with the BJP govt taking its development as a priority.”
