Cyclone Tauktae: Heavy rains lead to waterlogging in Mumbai; train services hit

  • Cyclonic storm Tauktae led to very strong winds blowing at a speed of 114 kmph in Mumbai on Monday afternoon. The Bandra-Worli sea-link was closed for traffic in view of the strong winds and people were asked to take alternate routes, a BMC official said. The airport was also shut temporarily & local train services were also affected due to the heavy rainfall. Mumbai had been put on orange alert by the Indian Meteorological Department. Heavy rainfall also led to water logging in several parts of Mumbai. Cyclone Tauktae is expected to make a landfall in Gujarat this evening.
