‘If internal peace is disrupted…’: Bipin Rawat on LoC ceasefire, LAC activities

- Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat spoke on the situation at the border. General Rawat also spoke on insurgency in Jammu and Kashmir and Chinese activities along l.A.C. "Ceasefire holding so far along LoC which is a positive sign. Also witnessing infiltration of weapons through drones. Weapons, drugs sent into our country are meant to disrupt internal peace. If the internal peace process is disrupted, we cannot say that a ceasefire is holding. We would like a semblance of peace in the entire state of Jammu and Kashmir. People looking at peace returning, especially after the abrogation of Article 370. People are now realising that actions taken were for the benefit of J&K. Time is not far when people won’t allow insurgency to remain in the valley. Time has come to support local people, take the process forward. Need to identify misled youth and tell them that terrorism is not the way forward. Everybody can live happily in Kashmir as a part of the Indian union. Our people should be able to see the tranquility and scenic beauty of Kashmir."
