'India a key international actor': Russia backs India's UNSC bid | Details

- Russia has backed India's bid to become a permanent member of the UN Security Council. Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov was addressing the UNGA's 77th session in New York, United States when he said that the security council could be made more democratic by including representation of countries from Africa, Asia, and Latin America. He pitched India as a 'worthy candidate' for permanent membership in the expanded UNSC.
