India calls for de-escalation after Putin's Ukraine move

India on Tuesday expressed deep concern over the escalation of tension along Ukraine’s border with Russia. India called on all parties to exercise restraint and to step up diplomatic efforts to find a ‘mutually amicable solution’. India’s permanent representative to the UN, presented the country’s position during an emergency session of the UN Security Council. Unlike most other members of the UNSC, India stopped short of criticising the latest actions of Russia. On Tuesday, Putin recognised the independence of the Russia-backed regions of Luhansk and Donetsk. Watch the full video for more.
