More than a thousand Iranian university students claimed to have been 'poisoned' the night before they were due to attend mass anti-regime protests across the country. The students complained of nausea, body pain, and severe headaches. Authorities claimed that water-borne bacteria caused such symptoms, while the student union alleged that they were deliberately poisoned to derail their planned protests.
