- Justice Uday Umesh Lalit has been appointed the new Chief Justice of India. He will succeed incumbent CJI NV Ramana when he takes his oath of office on August 27. Justice Lalit will have a brief tenure of less than three months. He will turn 65 on November 8 when he leaves office. Justice Lalit was part of the majority opinion of the Constitution Bench judgment which declared Triple Talaq unconstitutional. Watch this video for more.
