Maha flood fury: Over 100 killed, thousands evacuated; CM visits affected areas

- The death toll from landslides & flooding in Maharashtra went up to 138 on Saturday. Officials said 90,000 people evacuated from seven districts in aftermath of heavy rain. CM Uddhav Thackeray was due to visit Raigad’s Taliye, one of the hardest-hit areas. In Raigad's Taliye, a portion of a hillock flattened most of the village late on Thursday. Around 32 houses were buried & on Friday evening, 36 bodies were pulled out from debris. Maharashtra govt has roped in army & navy to assist in the ongoing rescue operations. 21 NDRF teams have been working with 14 Army, Coast Guard teams in rain-ravaged districts. Besides, four teams of SDRF have also joined the evacuation operations. Sangli, Kolhapur, Satara, Pune, Ratnagiri, Raigad, Thane districts have been hardest hit. Officials, aware of developments, added that as many as 59 people were still missing.
